Being very interested in green building and energy efficiency, over six years we had gotten to know Norm Schreifels of Sun Mountain Construction through the Albuquerque fall Homes of Enchantment. When we were ready to build a home, our interest was for the quality of construction Sun Mountain offers, from the extra care taken in the foundation, through the well-insulated walls and duct work, and beyond to the finishing details. Our home was rated gold-level, New Mexico Build Green, even before the addition of the photo-voltaic panels on the roof. Norm is a perfectionist and is very selective about his subcontractors. We always found the contacts he recommended for selecting lighting and plumbing fixtures, flooring, and landscaping, to be friendly, experienced, and helpful. We continue to marvel at how Sun Mountain brought our dream of an active solar home into beautiful reality. We thank them!

"In February of 2003 my wife Marilyn and I began a collaboration of some eighteen months with Norm Schreifels to design and build our home in Oxbow Bluff. During the design phase of construction, Norm offered many creative ideas and provided expert advice in bringing our wants and needs into the final rendering of our house plans.
     Construction started in February of 2004 and throughout the building of our home, Norm was a superlative 'superintendent of construction.' A perfectionist at heart, Norm supervised the entire project thus ensuring my wife and I an exceptionally well-built, energy efficient and functional home. Norm's attention to details in construction, use of quality construction materials, and having an excellent cadre of sub-contractors was reassuring to both of us as we observed the building process. Norm's expertise in construction and years of experience moved the project at a steady pace. There were not periods of inactivity, or delays in the construction process.
     Our home was completed in October 2004 and since taking residence, both Marilyn and I have relished living in the house. It is exactly what we wanted, and Norm Schreifels was the catalyst that helped us get it. We feel confident that anyone wanting to build a distinctive, well-designed, energy-efficient home would not be sorry that they collaborated with Norm and Sun Mountain Construction. "When we first decided to purchase a piece of land in Corrales to build a new home on, we had no idea there were so many custom home builders to choose from. So our adventure began. We looked at several homes during the parade of homes, and it took us a few years of searching before we walked into Sun Mountain Construction's Parade entry in Las Brisas. We knew at that moment that we wanted them to build us our casa.
     We made contact with Norm about a year later when we were ready to begin the building process. We knew what we wanted in a home and with the help of Norm and designer Watermelon Mountain Design, our dreams were well under way of becoming a reality.
